Blackbird nest
Found a baby bird calling on the ground so we searched for a nest and found it in a honeysuckle. Can hear them calling as I type.
Tomatoes appearing
The tomatoes are just starting to fruit. Tomatoes are such a time consuming crop. After all that work; careful sowing, potting on, watering and some feeding they are only just starting to fruit. Next year I'm going to grow a heirloom variety after some repairs to the old greenhouse.
The courgettes, yellow and green varieties, look good. The first crop, I think, will produce around ten courgettes. A few to store and a few to give away. Strawberries are coming along. Something kept eating them so I made a fruit cage. I picked some broad beans today. An autumn variety called aquadulce claudia. I sowed them last November, and I'm really impressed they survived all the snow we had. They were, during bad weather, practically covered with snow/ice for two weeks.Long day at the allotment

Despite having a cold, and the house boiler deciding to pee everywhere, and having to fix a sodding blasted windows machine, I got a lot done on the allotment.
- I caught up on weeding. I can see onions now.
- Cut back the hops. Everyday I visit they have up to 10 new useless bines. See video to see how big they are.
- Planted some spare peas and beans my neighbour gave me.
- Cut the grass with the mower and strimmer. Made the plot look tidy and grass cuttings composted for nitrogen.
- The strawberry runners I potted and pinned down have rooted.??
- Watered at 10pm.
I did have a whole video, but I got gstreamer errors on pitivi.
Rainy day and strawberry runners
Went to the allotment today. It's nice to work in the rain for a change, I dont have to water the garden.
Found two strawberry runners starting to form so I pinned them down ready for rooting. I have never tried pinning them down, last year I left them alone and I got three plants from six or five.
The variety is Elsanta. We got them last year to replace my granddads strawberry patch which disappeared somewhere. When I was little I would go pick them. He had the same strawberries for years, I don't know what the variety was but, I remember him pulling out runners and fitting them into a line.
??
A few other pictures.
French beans are in. Courgettes wont be long. Gerkins getting bigger.
??
I had 3 or 4 melons but they got eaten! This is the last tiny sad melon.
