There is something about the cinematography of this movie I really like. The grains, lighting and retro feel? Great film by IT crowd's Richard Ayoade.

Type: Action.
Why watch it: Unlike the bond spy films this more realistic with a cold war feel. Good car chase around Paris featuring a mini.
Watch out for: Franka Potente.
Gone in 60 Seconds (1974)
Type: Action. Crime.
Why watch it: Put down the remake and watch the original with its 34-minute car chase scene in which 93 cars are wreaked.
Watch out for: 1973 Ford Mustang Mach I.
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
Why watch it: Steven Spielberg's aliens do their rounds.
Watch out for: The repeated tune will make you start sculpting your mash potatoes into a mountain.
The Incredible Shrinking Man
A B-Movie from 1957. Although like every film these days due to the lack imagination its being remade. The title, as silly as it seems isn't as worse as the descriptive 'Attack of the 50 Foot Woman'.
Those dam pesky radioactive clouds that just sneak up on you.
The film is about Scott Carey. A man who comes in contact with a radioactive cloud and pesticide. What are the chances? Over a short period time he begins to notice his clothes are large and don't fit. Worried, he visits the doctor explaining that he's always been six foot one. The doctor shrugs off the suggestion that he's shrinking and explains that every medical hes had has been wrong about his height. Typical 50's sci-fi doctor.
Second thoughts your shrinking... we can tell his from you x-rays because a measuring tape isn't invented yet... this is modern 50s health care after all.
After awhile the doctors admit their wrong and start tests. They find a cure but he realizes it only works for a short while. By now he gets smaller and the movies effects kick in.
Theres somebody at the door...
The cat wants feeding or just lunch in general so it lurks around Scott Carey's doll house, which he lives in for a short while. Good effects for the 50's.
Kitty knows kung-fu... Take that you little leprechaun
Once hes gets the cat of his back. He makes a break for the cellar.
Kitty really wants feedin' no need to be shy...
The cat, being much stronger, pushes the door open sending him over stairs edge and down on to some clothes. His wife on the other hand arrives home thinking the cat ate him. Thinking maybe his remains might turn up later in the day?. And so Scott Carey looses all human contact and is imprisoned in his own cellar. Doooooomed.
Classic Robinson Crusoe look... meets the borrowers.
When down in the cellar he feels the need to fight a spider and then for no reason at all he leaves the cellar and into the gardens lawn since hes small enough to fit through the grate. Ending on a metaphysical tone as he becomes so small he will presumably be in his own microscopic universe.
Great sci-fi that has some neat trickery effects like large furniture to make him look small. Not sure how the new version will be. Maybe it will take more from the original book.

Blade Runner Final Cut
Finally, finally, finally, finally there is a Blade Runner final cut with extras and commentary. After 25 years and 1 re-release, Ridley Scott has put together the FINAL CUT.If you haven't seen it. Its a dark neo-noir sci-fi about a cop hunting replicants (genetically manufactured human like beings).
I don't mind the directors cut. It is better than the original with there being no voice over narration. Deckard's dream of the unicorn in the directors cut obviously shows he is a replicant himself. Also, to back that up, when Rachael asks Deckard if has took the test himself there is a pause to make you think.
After years of debate, Ridley Scott in 2000, ended all debate when he finally revealed that Deckard is a replicant.
It comes out on DVD on 3rd of December. With a new trailer. If you haven't seen this film were have you been?

The Colour of Magic tv movie
It seems after the success of the hogfather sky one is going to back another discworld tv movie with Vadim Jean directing and Terry Pratchett on hand. I didn't even know it was planned. But apparently its in the "filming" status with David Jason playing Rincewind and Sean Astin (one of the lord of the rings hobbits) playing Twoflower. I cant wait to see how they going to do the librarian.

28 weeks later is a surprise
I wasn't to sure about it before I sat down and watched it. I didn't go see it at the cinema because, well, squeals are generally rubbish and I avoid them at all costs. It's always going to be hard to top a Danny Boyle film. The man is a film making genius. Trainspotting, the beach, 28 days later and sunshine are all amazing films. My favorites being Sunshine, a true sci-fi film. I enjoyed it a lot. Then theres Trainspotting being more iconic than the rest and probably one of the best British films.
28 weeks later is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. I don't know much about him but he did a good job. Danny Boyle was a producer. The film builds on tension and ultimately anyone can die. How horror films should be unlike Resident Evil, a poor predictable zombie romp. I think the budget was higher than that of 28 days, but it didn't ruin it. It still has a slight indie feel to it. Although thats lost more or well when you see london being bombed by the American army.

Joe Strummer - The Future Is Unwritten Trailer
Cannot wait to see this film, Joe Strummer is a legend. Looks like another good film by film four to me.
