Everything seems to be slowing down on the allotment, it's getting cooler and the day's shorter. I cant believe it's October in a week. I'm being asked a lot: have you got any apples left? Yes, I have apples left. There's a whole box in the hallway full. I picked more today, I slung a carrier bag around me with some heavy duty jute string and climbed the bramley tree in wellington's.
I keep feeding and feeding the pumpkins, determined to have one bigger than last year. In my heavy-ish soil they seem to grow better in hills of compost and potash.I'm bagging and freezing hops tomorrow. The fun.
